H. *GREYWOODS BILL CHAMBERS (Wilkinson 06) 75.00
Dor/ Sev. 32” LM Ext. It’s an honor and a privilege to name this lovely daylily after a good friend and a great Reg. 4 Hybridizer. 6” round with heavy substance, this pink subtle bitone has lighter sepals and an excellent yellow gold edge that produces angel wings on hot days. A small yellow halo bleeds into a deep grass green throat. An added bonus is the ruffled buds that start opening the previous day. Very fertile and bloomed into Sept. here. [GREYWOODS DIXIE BELLE X (ANGELS BRAID X DARLA ANITA)] Just a few. -
H. GREYWOODS DUSTY BUDS (Wilkinson 07) 55.00
Dor. 25” M-L 5.75” Re. This well proportioned plant is a delight in the garden. It’s a pansy petalled, flat pink lavender with a vivid purple plum eye & thin rim. The buds have a powdery-looking coating much like on blue hostas & grapes, that lessens later in the day. A vivid grass green throat and nicely fertile. Rebloomed 2 out of 3 years for us! Top branches but, of no matter as it’s for the front of the border, and blooms just above the pretty blue foliage. (MASKED PHANTOM X DARLA ANITA) X CELEBRATION OF ANGELS. -
H. JUDY’S WAY (Melin/ Wilkinson 07) 45.00
Dor. 28” LM 5.25 ”Dip This lovely hem was hybridized by Irene Melin – my mentor – and she passed away before I was able to introduce it for her. H. JUDY’S WAY is a very pretty, soft light pink of smooth texture, with a muted rose pink band. The yellow center bleeds into a green throat, and it has 3 branches w/ 20+ buds. Of classic form, this plant is a lovely addition for the later garden. Very hardy and moderately fertile. (BARBARA MITCHELL X UNK) -
H. GREYWOODS KIWI FROG (Wilkinson 07) FALL
Dip Sev. 37” M-LM 8+” UF. Some names just stick, and I’ve always called this cascading UF “Frog”, because of it’s huge dynamic green throat. The rose coral blooms have a rose red band, and form is sometimes variable from cascading to pinched. 3 br. towards the top, but many scapes, and a real show off. [MAD MAX X Sdlg (MAGIC OF OZ X VICTORIAN RIBBONS)] -
H. *GREYWOODS MATERIAL GIRL (Wilkinson 06) S/O
Dor. 32” M. 6” Like the rock star herself, this flower is vibrant and showy. The blooms open to a flat cream and the huge rose red eye looks heavily painted on with textured ribbing. A big green throat, a rose red rim & 3 branches make this a knockout. Fertile & producing big eyed kids. [Sdlg (ISLE OF ZANZIBAR X GREYWOODS DRESSAGE QUEEN) X BORDER MUSIC] -
H. *GREYWOODS SANTA FE BOOGIE (Wilkinson 06) 45.00
Dor. 34” M. 6” Part of the focus here at GWF is to offer plants that perform well as landscapers, and GW SFB does just that. It’s a clear, round orange peach with a hot JANICE BROWN type of red eye, outlined deeper red and a ruffled red border. A deep grass green throat and the hint of a violet midrib add to the charm. Fertile and hardy. 3 Br/ 24+ buds. [BORDER MUSIC X Sdlg (TET JANICE BROWN X GREYWOODS LADY BE GOOD)] -
H. *SPIRIT HAWK (Wilkinson 07) 65.00
Dor. 39” EM-LM Ext. 7.5”-8" In keeping with my resolve to introduce only good garden hems, and not just pretty faces, this daylily certainly fits the mold. The big flat to recurved thin stars are a deep straw yellow with a jagged brick rose triangular eye, and a green throat. Blooms for a long period, with nice foliage and strong scapes. It’s mostly fertile, and has 3 br. & 24 buds. Great to use with Southern spiders! (EYES A BLUE X GREYWOODS LOFTY LIZZIE) -
H. GREYWOODS STARGAZEY (Wilkinson 06) FALL
Sev. 39” M. 9” Dip The Stargazey is a pub in a novel from one of my favorite mystery writers, Martha Grimes. This is what I’d probably call a big fat spidery UF. At 9”+, it starts the day as a deep violet purple star, and progresses to a red purple by afternoon. The flower is nicely formed with a big yellow into a green star center. Good 4 low branches - strong scapes. (MIGHTY HIGHTY TIGHTY X JANS TWISTER) X PLANET MAX] -
H. GREYWOODS SUGARLAND (Wilkinson 06) S/O
Dor/Sev. 38” ML 7.5-8” Dip Sugar coated and everything nice, this color is a new direction for spidery hems. Looking like a mouse-eared star UF, it can be identified from across the garden. This thin petalled lilac pink has a huge showy cream pink halo and 3 branches, 23+ buds. It won the 2005 STANLEY E. SAXTON Reg. 4 HYBRIDIZERS AWARD. Moderately fertile, good pollen and a bright green throat. (JAUNTY JULIE X GREYWOODS TOOTHACHE PURPLE)
